Traffic Concerns Mount in GoGreen Colony: Residents Call for Urgent Action

Residents of GoGreen Colony are raising alarm over increasing traffic hazards and congestion in their neighbourhood, particularly at the Rd No. 25 X roads junction. The community is urgently calling for intervention from local authorities to address these growing concerns.

Key Issues Identified

  1. Reckless Driving: High-speed traffic, including heavy vehicles such as tractors and water tankers, poses significant risks to residents.
  2. Wrong Route Usage: Many vehicles, especially motorcycles, are cutting through narrow colony roads instead of using the designated Rd No. 23.
  3. Commercial Congestion: The presence of Swiggy, Instamarts, and Bandi Supermarket near the junction is exacerbating traffic issues, with delivery drivers often taking the wrong routes and driving recklessly.
  4. Parking Problems: Lack of adequate parking for Bandi Super Market is causing two-wheelers and four-wheelers to block and narrow the road.
  5. Similar Issues Elsewhere: Residents report comparable problems at Anjali Gardens Colony Aditya Pharmacy lane, citing heavy traffic, noise pollution, and safety concerns due to a blind turn.

Proposed Solutions

Residents are advocating for the installation of permanent barricades at the Rd No. 25 X roads junction, similar to those implemented at Butterfly Circle. They argue that this solution would:

- Prevent high-speed traffic and wrong-route usage

- Improve safety for pedestrians and local traffic

- Require only a minor detour (approximately 100m) for vehicles to make a U-turn

The community strongly believes that barricades are more suitable for this particular junction than a roundabout. They cite concerns about recent roundabout designs creating blind spots and potentially worsening the situation, as seen at Lanco Hills Circle and other major crossroads.

 Community Action and Frustrations

GoGreen residents report having raised these issues multiple times with the Municipal Corporation office, local councillors, and even the chairman. However, they express frustration at the lack of action taken so far.

One resident shared an incident where an unknown vehicle caused significant damage to their garden barricades, highlighting the urgent need for traffic calming measures.

Call to Action

The GoGreen community is calling for immediate attention from city planners and traffic authorities. They emphasize that while the recent road improvements have provided some relief, the core issues remain unaddressed.

Residents stress that their proposed barricade solution is both appropriate and right for this specific junction, based on daily observations and the unique characteristics of the area.

As traffic concerns continue to grow, the GoGreen Colony community remains hopeful that their voices will be heard and action will be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all road users in their neighborhood.
