Trillium Apartments: A Battle for Greenery and Connectivity

 Introduction

Trillium Apartments, nestled in the heart of Cyberabad IT corridor, Alkapur Township residential area under Manikonda municipality, once boasted a serene 300-yard park—a green oasis where children played, families picnicked, and neighbours connected. However, promises made by authorities have turned into a bitter reality for the residents. Let’s delve into the story of Trillium’s lost park and the road that remains incomplete.

The Broken Promise

Last year during Dusshera, representatives from the Manikonda municipality and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) approached the Trillium Association. Their message was clear: the beloved children’s park would be sacrificed to build a 100-foot road connecting Alkapur Township to Radial Road 5 Narsingi. The road work was supposed to start immediately, and residents were assured of a quick completion.

Six Months of Frustration

Fast forward six months, and the situation could be better. While some progress was made in reconstructing the demolished boundary wall, the road construction hit a roadblock—literally. The area earmarked for the road now lies closed, barricaded by an unknown entity. Only 200 meters remain to link this road to the Puppalaguda main road.

Lost Greenery, Lost Hope

The boundary marked in yellow on the map represents the lush greenery that once adorned this space. Trees, shrubs, and open spaces—all sacrificed for the road. The promise of connectivity has turned into a nightmare for Alkapur residents. The road, if completed, would significantly reduce travel time to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) service road in Kokapet, benefiting everyone.

No Compensation, Only Disappointment

What’s most disheartening is the lack of compensation. The residents developed the park for children with 2 lakhs of hard-earned money. They gave away the land with zero compensation for better connectivity to the colony. But the abrupt halt in construction leaves residents without their park and without answers.

Conclusion

Trillium Apartments stands as a testament to broken promises, lost green spaces, and the struggle for connectivity. As the road remains incomplete, residents hope for a resolution that balances progress with preservation. Perhaps someday, the children’s laughter will return to a park that was once theirs.

Note: The exact location on maps and the visual representation of the road’s status are crucial for understanding the gravity of the situation. Let’s hope that authorities take notice and find a way to complete the road while respecting the environment and the community’s needs.
