As the 2010s progressed, Hyderabad experienced a remarkable surge in the IT and entertainment industries. Manikonda, another suburban area, became the preferred residential destination for a IT professionals and the entertainment community. This surge in urbanization, however, came with unforeseen consequences for Anjali Gardens.
In 2019, heavy rainfall descended upon the region, leading to a crisis that left the residents of Anjali Gardens grappling with a severe problem – waterlogging. The situation was dire, prompting residents to take action and bring their concerns to the Municipal Chairman.
The water logging is caused by a number of factors, like Bulkapur Nala encroachments coupled with the poor drainage system in the area. When it rains, the water simply has nowhere to go, and it builds up in the streets and then to homes. This causes a number of problems, including:
- Flooding of homes
- Damage to roads and infrastructure
- Health risks from standing water
- Inconvenience and disruption to daily life
Unfortunately, the problem didn't get better after that one time. Every time it rained, even a little bit, Anjali Gardens would flood again. The problem became particularly severe in the vicinity of Mount Litera Zee School, a matter of grave concern for both the school administration and the residents.
The residents of Anjali Gardens have been talking to the Manikonda Municipal Officials for the past four months, before the rainy season begins, to get the problem fixed. The officials have been saying that they will start the work soon, but it hasn't happened yet.
We hope that the Municipal Chairman and Commissioner can come up with a solution to this problem as quickly as they can.
